I used to think dropping three hundred dollars was the only way to get a decent wearable, especially if you wanted built-in GPS and a screen you can actually read outside. The Xiaomi Redmi Watch 5 Lite completely wrecks that assumption. For around fifty bucks, this thing does most of what the premium models do. The 1.96-inch AMOLED display is massive and surprisingly crisp—text messages are easy to read on a run, and the always-on display doesn't drain the battery as fast as I expected. Speaking of battery life, getting almost three weeks on a single charge is absurd in the best way possible. I charge it twice a month. It tracks heart rate, sleep, and has a built-in GNSS chip, meaning I can leave my phone at home when I go cycling and still map my route. Bluetooth calling works fine; the dual mics pick up my voice clearly enough if I'm not standing in heavy wind. If you're hunting for the best smart watch on a strict budget, this is incredibly hard to beat. It lacks third-party app support and the heavy integration you get with an Apple Watch, but as a dedicated fitness tracker and notification hub, it punches way above its price tag. It feels light on the wrist, handles swimming with 5ATM water resistance, and syncs reliably across different devices.
