I lose earbuds constantly on my commute, so I stopped buying expensive pairs a long time ago. That habit led me to the Xiaomi Redmi Buds 6 Play. If you are searching for the best under 100 wireless earbuds, you might expect to spend at least fifty or sixty bucks. These cost a twenty-dollar bill. Naturally, I kept my expectations in check before popping them in.
Right out of the box, the first thing I noticed was the weight. At 3.6 grams per earbud, they barely register once they are sitting in your ear canal. I wore them through a full afternoon of podcast listening and completely forgot they were there. The 10mm dynamic drivers push out surprisingly decent audio quality. It is not audiophile-grade by any stretch, but the bass hits hard enough for gym playlists, and the five EQ presets actually make a noticeable difference depending on what you are listening to.
The battery life is the real draw here. I easily pulled seven hours on a single charge, and the compact charging case holds enough juice to get you through a whole week of average use. The AI noise reduction for calls is okay—it blocks out background cafe chatter well enough, but heavy wind still causes issues. Touch controls can also be a bit finicky if your hands are sweaty. Still, for the price of a couple of coffees, they deliver reliable Bluetooth connectivity and a ridiculously comfortable fit.
