JBL Endurance Peak 4 wireless sports earbuds with ear hooks: A Full Review

On windy runs, the earbuds I distrust most are the ones I have to keep nudging back into place. The JBL Endurance Peak 4 are clearly built to avoid that problem: the ear hooks wrap securely, the TwistLock fit feels planted, and the oval tips do not create that plugged-up pressure as quickly as some sport buds I have worn. I would put these near the top of the list if you are searching for the best wireless earbuds with ear hooks and noise cancelling, as long as you want workout-first earbuds rather than tiny commuter buds. The IP68 rating is a big part of the appeal; sweat, rain, trail dust, and a messy gym bag are not things I would baby them around. Battery life is also a strong point, with enough reserve in the case that I would not think about charging every night. The sound is very JBL: bass-forward, energetic, and better for running playlists than critical listening. The app tuning and Personi-fi help if you want a less boomy profile. The adaptive noise reduction is useful for fans, gym noise, and street hum, but it is not the kind of ANC that makes a subway disappear. Smart Ambient matters more to me on outdoor runs, since I can hear bikes and cars without pulling a bud out. The tradeoff is bulk. The case is not pocket-friendly, and the ear hooks can clash with glasses or a tight hat. Still, for secure-fit Bluetooth sports earbuds with waterproofing and decent ANC, these make a lot of sense at around $115.
