This is an evaporative model, meaning it pushes out invisible moisture through a paper filter. You won't wake up to a soaking wet dresser. It also doubles as a sound machine with a decent white noise setting and a built-in nightlight. At $159, it is definitely expensive for a humidifier, and you have to factor in the recurring cost of replacing the paper filters every month and a half. The aroma diffusion feature is nice, but honestly, I skip the essential oils around newborns anyway.
