PuroAir 240 HEPA Air Purifier with 2 Replacement Filters: A Full Review

Quick Take
My allergy season used to start with a week of sneezing before I connected it to the dust I'd let build up. Our Verdict
Pros
- +the auto sensor actually reacts to cooking and dust, not just for show
- +sleep mode is quiet enough to run all night without noticing it
- +carbon layer cuts smoke and cooking smells, not only particles
- +handles a large room fast, so a normal bedroom gets cleaned quickly
- +comes with 2 filters so you're not buying a replacement right away
Cons
- −it does not humidify at all, so if you want a combo unit this isn't it
- −replacement filters add up and are an ongoing cost over the year
- −you're paying a brand premium over generic units with similar specs
- −on higher fan speeds it's loud enough to hear over a TV

My allergy season used to start with a week of sneezing before I connected it to the dust I'd let build up. I put this PuroAir in my bedroom mostly to see if it'd help me sleep through pollen season, and after a couple weeks the morning stuffiness backed off noticeably. It's not silent, but on sleep mode it fades into a low hum I stopped noticing by night two. The particle sensor is the part I didn't expect to like — it kicks up on its own when I cook or when the cat gets restless, then settles back down. One thing worth saying upfront: if you searched for an air purifier and humidifier in one, this isn't that. It only filters air. There's no water tank, no mist, no humidity control at all, so if dry winter air is your actual problem, keep looking. As a straight purifier it covers a big room well and the three-layer filter (pre-filter, HEPA, carbon) does cut smoke and cooking smells, not just dust. The 1,000 sq ft claim is generous — it's rated for that in an hour, so in a smaller bedroom you get faster turnover. Filters run you real money over time, which is the ongoing cost people forget. For the price it's solid, though you're paying a bit of a brand premium versus some off-name units that do similar work. I'd buy it again for a bedroom or living room, just not as a two-in-one device.
