In-Depth Review

My old pressure cooker finally gave out after five years of heavy weekly use, which sent me down a rabbit hole trying to figure out what actually makes the best instant pot for a household that cooks a lot of tough cuts of meat. I ended up trying the Ninja HyperHeat, mostly because I liked the idea of the wider base for browning ingredients before pressure cooking. The 6.5-quart capacity hits a sweet spot. It holds a whole four-pound chicken easily, but the real benefit is the surface area. Most multi-cookers are tall and narrow, which means you have to sear a chuck roast in three batches. With this one, I can brown a whole roast or sauté a massive pile of onions all at once, directly in the PFAS-free ceramic pot. Ninja claims the HyperHeat technology builds pressure faster than older models. In my kitchen, it shaves about five to eight minutes off the pre-heating phase for a full pot of chili, which is definitely noticeable when you're trying to get dinner done on a Tuesday. The blue macaron color is a nice touch if you plan to leave it on the counter, and the pot itself looks decent enough to put right on the dining table. It's quite bulky, though, and the lid takes some getting used to if you're used to the classic twist-and-lock mechanisms of other brands. Still, for anyone who relies heavily on the sear and sauté functions before slow cooking, the layout of this machine makes a lot of sense.
