Both are the kind of bulb that shows up in a thin envelope with a label you can barely read. Neither is a Philips Hue. But at a dollar, expectations should be calibrated accordingly.

Where the NINFULL wins

Color is the whole reason I bought mine. I put two of the E27 versions behind the TV in my living room and set them to a low warm amber for movie nights — the kind of glow that makes the room feel less like an office at 10pm. Then on a friend's birthday I flipped both to a slow-cycling rainbow and nobody could stop commenting on it, which is exactly the dumb fun you want from a color bulb. The app is the reason to go Tuya, full stop. I have a Tuya plug and a Tuya sensor already, and being able to build a routine — bulb comes on when the sensor trips after sunset — worked on the first try. No juggling three different apps that each want their own login. The white output is also just cleaner and more usable for actual lighting. In my kitchen I don't want purple; I want a bright neutral white I can read a recipe under, and the Tuya does that without the slightly muddy tint the RGB bulbs get when you push them to "white." It feels like a light bulb first and a gadget second. That's a compliment.

The honest differences

• The NINFULL does color and the Tuya doesn't, but if all you actually use is warm white — and after two weeks most people do — the Tuya's white is noticeably nicer and you'll have paid less mental tax.

• Tuya's app ecosystem is worlds ahead. NINFULL's app worked, but it's the kind of app that logs you out randomly and has a menu translated by someone in a hurry. If you already own Tuya/Smart Life gear, the NINFULL becomes an island you have to remember to check separately.

• NINFULL's GU10 option is genuinely rare at this price, and it saved me from buying a $15 branded spot bulb for the hallway. The Tuya is E27 only, so if your fittings aren't standard screw bases, it's not even in the running.

• The Tuya has a real delivery window listed (late April into May), which sounds worse but meant I knew when it'd actually show. The NINFULL just… arrived eventually. Three weeks, no tracking that updated. Fine for a dollar, annoying if you needed it for a specific weekend.

Which one I'd buy

I'd buy the Tuya for anything that's actually lighting a room, and I'd buy the NINFULL only where I specifically want color or a GU10 base.

That split is how I ended up using them at home. The Tuya lives in the kitchen and the reading lamp — places where I want reliable white and a routine that fires on schedule with the rest of my gear.
